Set number of rows and columns?

Set number of rows and columns? was created by icandy
How can I add parameters to set the number of thumbnails I would like displayed (number or rows and columns) i.e., if I have lots of images, I would like only 4 thumbnails per row in three rows (4x3) with navigation to next set of thumbnails. Is this possible?
