Esc button not working to close popup

Esc button not working to close popup was created by webjongens
Pressing the Esc button on external keyboard does not close the modal popup with admin notes, esc key on laptop keyboard does.
- Macbook
- Logi MX Keys S
- Joomla 5.4.3
- Admin Notes 5.3.1.0-PRO

Any idea what the issue might be? AI suggested the input might be different but in javascript testing I see both giving the same Escape (27) key back on press.
