Increasing Technical Requirements 2025 - Core & PHP for Joomla! Pro Extensions

Hey Pro users,

Starting in 2025, I will increase the required Joomla! and PHP versions for newly released paid extensions.


Joomla! 5

In 2025, I will increase the minimum required Joomla! version to 5.2 and the PHP version to 8.3 (the recommended PHP version by the Joomla! project for Joomla! 5.x).

Joomla! Core Version >= 5.2 (latest 5.x version recommended)
PHP Version >= 8.3 (latest 8.x version recommended)


Joomla! 4

In 2025, the technical requirements for the Joomla version will stay the same as in 2024, but the minimum PHP version will be increased to 8.2 (the recommended PHP version by the Joomla! project for Joomla! 4.x).

Joomla! Core Version >= 4.4 (latest 4.x version recommended)
PHP Version >= 8.2 (latest 8.x version recommended)


Joomla! 3

Since 2023, all Joomla! 3 extensions have reached EOL (End of Life) and are no longer being updated or supported. You may still download and use them, but they do not have a functional guarantee and support. Please consider upgrading to Joomla! 5 if you want to use the latest supported versions of my extensions!


Don't worry! You cannot break your site if the requirements are unmet and you trigger the installation/update process. All packages are doing a pre-installation check, and the installation is stopped if the versions are too low.

Suppose you cannot update Joomla! or/and PHP for any reason, then please stay with the already installed instances or use an older version that I released before 2025. However, I recommend using the latest versions for performance and security reasons anyway!
