ECC+ / Yootheme J 1.5.25 - Failed spam check

I am receiving the "You failed the spam check. Please try again!" after submitting information on the second part of a registration.

The first steps takes name, email, user name and password and a ECC+ math question. After that in a second step more user specific information is requested and NO ECC+ math question is presented. After submitting the information the above error message shows.

Is this a theme specific problem? I tried about everything from switching themes (Beez) to disabling about everything I can - no go.

Any suggestions? Thanks!
