Privacy-friendly integration of maps provided by OpenStreetMap in Joomla! articles

With this plugin, you can add OpenStreetMap easily and privacy-friendly into your Joomla articles using a simple syntax!

Maps are replaced by a preview image with a play button and loaded once the user has clicked on the button. No data is transferred to OpenStreetMap without the consent of the user.

Features

  • Adds maps from OpenStreetMap privacy-friendly and easily in Joomla! articles
  • Protects the privacy of your visitors - data is only transferred after a click
  • Improves loading performance - content is only loaded after a click
  • Easy to use syntax - {map}URL{/map}
  • You may set a custom preview image of the map directly in the syntax

Installation

Install 2 Click OpenStreetMap with the help of the Installer component as usual. Then activate the plugin in System -> Plugins -> Content - 2 Click OpenStreetMap.

The syntax {map}IFRAME-LINK{/map} triggers the plugin execution in articles. The ID is the link of the embed iframe (src attribute).

Where to find the link of the map iframe?

Select your map detail on openstreetmap.org, select the "Share" button, then the tab "HTML", copy the entire iframe code and extract the content of the src attribute (starts with https://www.openstreetmap.org/export/embed.html?bbox=x - x contains the required coordinates and layer information).

Use the entire embed URL with the {map} syntax where you want to add the map. You can also use the syntax in an HTML module if the "Prepare content" option is enabled.

You may set four additional options directly in the syntax for the specified map source. The first option is the map iframe src attribute, the second is a custom image, the third is the width, the fourth is the height of the map, and the fifth is a title used as a title tag to improve accessibility.

Examples of how you can use the plugin in the content component:

{map}https://www.openstreetmap.org/export/embed.html?bbox=x{/map}
{map}https://www.openstreetmap.org/export/embed.html?bbox=x|images/custom-image.jpg{/map}
{map}https://www.openstreetmap.org/export/embed.html?bbox=x|images/custom-image.jpg|600|400{/map}
{map}https://www.openstreetmap.org/export/embed.html?bbox=x||800|600{/map}
{map}https://www.openstreetmap.org/export/embed.html?bbox=x||||Title of the map{/map}
